Grammy Favorites

Katy Perry in Armani Prive...only she can pull it off

I love her so much and her outfits at the Grammy's suited her perfectly!  Love how she intimately pulled in her audience by adding never-seen-before footage of her Indian wedding with Russel Brand during her performance of Not Like the Movies, and of course she topped it off with something fun, bubbly, and yummy with Teenage Dream. (both seen below)

Eva Longaria in Ashi

The petite actress looks elegant and fun, key combo for the Grammys.

Lea Michelle

Michelle looks chic and sexy in Emilio Pucci

Nicole Kidman in Jean Paul Gaultier

This is the Nicole Kidman I remember from the good red carpet days, stunning.

Florence Welch in Givenchy

This is how you pull off a swan dress.  She captures her vintage and unique personality perfectly.

The Fabulous Jennifer Hudson

Hudson looked radiant in her navy blue Versace dress.  Talk about a bangin' bod!

Speaking of bods...

Only Ciara could make this Emilio Pucci look classy not trashy...but thats just my opinion.

Kelly Osbourne in Tadashi Shoji's

Pretty in purple, Kelly got both her dress and her makeup right.

Miley Cyrus...love/hate

I hated Miley's dress but I was digging her look of layered bangles by Lorraine Schwartz & Ofira.

Julianne Hough

Colorful and boho chic in Malandrino

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!  For those of you who are single like me...Valentines Day does NOT have to be a holiday that you mope around about.  Be appreciative and thankful for the friends and family that love you in your life, and of course treat yourself to something as fabulous as you!  After gushing over these Sam Edelman Zoe boots since fall, I finally treated myself to them today.  Can't wait to rock these with something as simple as a flannel and leggings (as seen below worn by MK Olsen) or dress them up with a LBD.  Happy Valentines Day to ME!

Pre-Fall A+O

While buying at the ENK Intermezzo show in NYC this past January I was blown away by the Alice + Olivia pre-fall collection.  I have to say that there choices of chocolate browns, sequins, stripes, and faux fur had me in the mood to bundle up all over again...shocking right?  Take a look at a few pieces that you can expect to see in Valentina come fall.

...The perfect Party Girl dress.

...Just enough shimmer to dress up/down.

...Phenomenal faux fur accessory.
{also available in a vest}

A chic, sophisticated, and fun way to dress up...
call me crazy, but I even think this little jacket would pair up nicely with black slacks at work.

The perfect fall coat.  I will be rocking this all season long.

Polka Dot Craze

Could it be true?  Polka dots...making a comeback?  I thought only Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman could pull off the Polka Dot look ...insert throwback pic. here (had to!)

It appears the modern day designer, or woman, is taking a tip from Ms. Vivian herself!  Polka Dots are hitting the fashion waves and are crashing in Spring 2011.  I can't decide if I am totally on board, but here are some examples to judge for yourself.

Left: Rubin Singer  |   Right: DKNY

Left: Louis Vuitton  |  Right: Michael Kors
Left: Alice + Olivia  |  Right: (my personal favorite) Jaeger London

Left: ADAM  |  Right: House of Holland

Will you be rocking polka dots come Spring?  I can tell you one thing...it's possible that Valentina may be getting its mitts on a kick ass Splendid top that even Minny Mouse would be envious of.  Who needs flurries when we can hop on board with this warm weather trend?

Strip to Stripes

As a buyer for Valentina a North Shore/Chicago boutique, one of the perks of my job is being able to sneak peek the approaching trends for future seasons.  It has also been a habit of mine to keep track of the upcoming trends by reading Vogue, WWD, W, InStyle, and any fashion websites bookmarked on my mac. I have to say that in my opinion stripes seem to join the Spring 2011 trend just as much as florals.  However, the stripes that are hitting the scene are not the nautical stripes you except.  These seasonal stripes are a horse of another color.  Bold color.  Bright stripes are appearing everywhere and are shown vertically, horizontally, diagonally, and even sporadically...taking color-blocking to a whole new level.  Although I can't reveal the rainbow bright stripes used by lines like ella moss, Spendid, or Joie until they put up the Spring collection on their sites...here are a few examples of these lovely lines in Spring 2011 runway shows:

Prada - S/S RTW 2011

Marc by Marc Jacobs - S/S RTW 2011

Jill Sander {S/S 2011 RTW} Fendi
